PlayStation veteran Connie Booth joins EA

Electronic Arts was able to win over former PlayStation veteran Connie Booth, who will be responsible for RPGs under EA in the future as general manager.

Connie Booth has worked at PlayStation for over 26 years and helped create some of its biggest brands, including The Last of Us, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank and many more. According to unconfirmed speculation, there were recent creative differences between Booth and Sony, which did not want to support the live service route. As a result, they parted ways last year.

EA aims for big brands with strong storytelling

As general manager, Coonie Booth will be responsible for brands such as Iron Man, Black Panther, Dragon Age and Mass Effect. She reports directly to EA Entertainment Head Laura Miele:

“Connie has helped build Sony Interactive Entertainment's internal studios for more than 30 years and is responsible for leading the development of some of its biggest franchises,” Miele tells IGN. […] She is known for creating an incredible developer-centric culture, supporting creative vision while driving innovation. I have known Connie for many years and have always been impressed by her love and commitment to games. She particularly cares about game developers. She has an impeccable reputation in the development community and will undoubtedly have a positive impact on our games.”

What is a huge loss for Sony is a gain for EA. According to IGN, EA wants to adopt some of Sony's exclusive strategies that have helped the Japanese create big games and brands like God of War. EA's goal is to create equally large blockbuster brands with strong storytelling. Booth and her experience are invaluable to this goal.
