Saber Interactive sold by Embracer Group for US$247 million



Embracer Group sold Saber Interactive to Beacon Interactive. O plot twist? This company is controlled by Saber's own co-founder, Matthew Karch. The transaction was completed by US$247 millionas announced by the company.

As part of this sale, Embracer Group will not continue its production in Russia. The measure, according to the publisher, will serve to immediately improve the company's cash flow and reduce capital expenditures, net debt and future obligations.

What do Saber Interactive's current projects look like?

After the split, Saber Interactive will retain the following subsidiary studios: DIGIC, Fractured Byte, Mad Head Games, New World Interactive, Nimble Giant Entertainment, Sandbox Strategies, Slipgate Ironworks and 3D Realms.

Embracer Group will have control over other divisions of Saber Interactive, such as 34BigThings, 4A Games, Aspyr, Beamdog, Demiurge Studios, Shiver, Snapshot Games, Tripwire Interactive, Tuxedo Labs and Zen Studios.

These studios will be integrated with other parts of the Embracer Group in the following period. At the moment, the projects carried out by each of them are:

  • 4A Games: developing a AAA game, which has not yet been announced. The studio is known for its Metro series, so we can expect something exciting and immersive.
  • Aspyr: is focused on post-launch support for games.
  • Tripwire Interactive: is developing Killing Floor III, likely continuing the series of cooperative and survival shooters.
  • Zen Studios: deals with its full pipeline of games, which includes both upcoming and already released titles. Zen Studios is known for its pinball games.

In addition to the games mentioned above, there are other projects not announced by Saber Interactive. In other words, even with the company being divided, many AAAs may suffer the consequences in the coming months due to these movements.

What about the Metro franchise?

Saber Interactive will have the right to acquire 4A Games and Zen Studios within a certain period of time, but if it decides to do so, long-term licensing and publishing rights to all current and future games in the Metro franchise will continue. being maintained by the Embracer Group subsidiary, PLAION.
