Tekken 8 allows players to face their deceased brother's “ghost”

An emotional story involving the Tekken 8 community caught attention on social media this past weekend. After losing his brother, a player asked for help to keep the character's “ghost” active in the game, and the director, Katsuhiro Harada, clarified how this would be possible.

The message reached Harada through an internet user. According to the story, the player and his brother, who died aged 26, fought battles together while training for local competitions in Texas, in the United States.

In the letter, he thanked the Tekken 8 devs for creating the “ghost” tool in the game, making him able to relive cherished memories from his past. However, he feared that the digitized version would be erased over time due to inactivity issues.

The title's director, in addition to offering condolences and support for the player, explained how it is possible to make his brother's character permanent. This way, the “mirror” of the fighter would be safe to be faced at any time in a local format.

My deepest condolences. If you download and save your brother's ghost locally, you can still play against him at any time, even if your server data is lost.

And please let me know if there's anything I can do to help. I have personally sent cards and other messages to many ceremonies. If it helps you feel better, tell him to contact me.

Tekken 8 is available for PS5, Xbox Series and PC.
