Katsuhiro Harada, director of Tekken 8, stated in an interview with MP1st that the Bandai Namco Games development team may, in the future, consider releasing characters via free DLC. However, he highlighted that creating new characters is one of the most expensive things to develop.

This could even be considered something surprising, after all, Harada explained that the game was expensive and needs community support to sustain itself for a long time. For this reason, the in-game Item Store was made available.

Asked about the possibility of Tekken 8 having this addition later on, Harada replied: “Characters are the most expensive content to develop, but in terms of potential, we could consider it later. Stay tuned for updates.”

It's worth noting that Tekken 7 received several post-launch characters tied to season patches, including Kunimitsu, Ganryu, Armor King, and Craig Marduk. In addition, Negan from The Walking Dead and Noctis from Final Fantasy XV were also present as guests.

So far, Bandai Namco has only confirmed the Eddy Gordo DLC for Tekken 8 as part of its season one schedule. Furthermore, there are no plans for this implementation in the near future. However, as Harada said, let's wait for updates.
