The Rise of Ronin was never announced for Korea, says Sony

The Rise of Ronin hasn't even been released yet and it's already causing some controversy on social media. Previously, due to historical conflicts involving characters inspired by true stories, it was announced that the game's release is canceled in Korea. In the last few hours, Sony has spoken out on the matter.

For you to understand better: an imperialist strategy that promoted the strengthening of Japan in 1873, motivated punitive action against Koreans during the Japanese occupation from 1910 to 1945. Kogoro Katsura, student of the philosopher responsible for inciting the movement, Yoshida Shōin, will appear in the game — being the main reason for cancellation.

According to a representative of the Japanese giant who contacted IGN, the initial idea never involved launching the exclusive in the aforementioned region. Check out what was said in the statement:

The Rise of Ronin for PlayStation 5 was never officially announced for Korea. We can confirm that the title will not be sold in the region in any format, whether physical or digital.

Apparently, The Rise of Ronin was scheduled for the region previously

On the other hand, IGN highlighted in its article that PlayStation carried out marketing campaigns for the launch of the title in the country on other occasions. South Korea also has a PS Blog dedicated to the region and you can find information about the game there.

A redirection from the South Korean PS Store to the Indonesian one when clicking on the Rise of the Ronin page was also mentioned. In fact, the translation into the South Korean language is listed as available. Anyway, it seems that Sony didn't drop everything in the end.

In any case, The Rise of Ronin promises to be a very immersive adventure and you can learn more about this universe by clicking here!
