One post on the official Silent Hill profile on social media, it was reported that the “short” The Short Message, an interactive game released for free last week, surpassed the 1 million download mark on the PlayStation Store.

The title, which puts the player in the role of young Anita and deals with themes such as depression and bullying, is a first-person experience very different from what we are used to in the franchise. Even so, it reached a considerable audience in a short time, right?

The proposal for Silent Hill The Short Message and its narrative were better explained in the game's description on the PS Store. Understand a little more:

Following messages from her friend Maya, Anita finds herself in a dilapidated apartment building, famous for suicide rumors.
Drawn inside, Anita soon finds her sense of reality destroyed as she encounters bizarre, supernatural spaces and twisted monsters. Maya's message was clear – “you won't leave until you find it” – but what is Anita really looking for?

As said on the PS Blog, this project started as something experimental, but from the beginning, it was planned as a free release. Liked the surprise?
