What’s new in Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Rook, the protagonist

Solas revealed that Rook’s blood interacted with the ritual, linking it to the “Fade”. With this, Rook and Solas can communicate with each other, adding an intriguing layer to the narrative. Additionally, the elven gods Elgar’nan and Ghilan’nain, seen at the end of the demo, are now free, while Solas remains trapped in the “Fade”.

The players’ base, the Lighthouse, is also located in the “Fade”. This location was Solas’ base of operations and now becomes the central point for players.

To travel from there to the rest of the map and complete missions, it will be necessary to use the Eluvians, in a similar way to the Crossroads in Inquisition, allowing quick traversal.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard gameplay and NPCs bring a lot of variety

In the narrative, after the initial events in the Forest of Arlathan, Bellara will be the next recruitable character. She specializes in electricity, contrasting with Neve’s ice powers.

Speaking of powers and gameplay, here’s another interesting piece of information: combat mechanics include light and heavy attacks, as well as dash, parry and charged moves.

You can also unlock additional attacks in the skill tree. This feature was previously mentioned by the creators of Dragon Age: The Veilguard and has strong inspirations in the Final Fantasy X and XII system.

Bringing more dynamics to confrontations, players can configure different sets of weapons to swap during combat and pause combos with a dash, resuming them later.

Going this route, each class will have unique advantages and weaknesses. Warriors and Rogues can parry, with a larger time window for Rogues. Mages cannot use parry, but they can raise magical shields automatically, as long as they have mana available.

Exploration of Dragon Age: The Veilguard promises a lot!

Arlathan Forest, with its quirky charm, stands in stark contrast to other areas in the game, promising dark locales and even darker story moments.

These scenarios promise to be impactful in the narrative of Dragon Age: The Veilguard throughout the journey, after all, in addition to supporting epic combats, they will be the background for the development of relationships between the characters.

In this sense, relationships with companions will be deepened through personal missions and participation in main missions. The choices made by players, their speech and actions, will determine the strength of these bonds throughout the journey.

This combination of elements promises a rich and immersive experience, with a narrative that adapts to the player’s choices, offering multiple possibilities and a vibrant world to explore. Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be released during the Brazilian spring of 2024.
