Ubisoft announces new layoffs to “improve efficiency”

Ubisoft announced a new wave of layoffs, mainly focused on the global publishing structure and its Asia and Pacific studios. In a note sent to GameSpot, the company justified the decision as a strategy to “improve the efficiency” of the company, with a structural reorganization.

“These past few months, every team within Ubisoft has been exploring ways to streamline our operations and increase our collective efficiency so that we are better positioned for long-term success. In this context, today we announce that we are further reorganizing our central Global Publishing and APAC structures to adapt them to market developments with a more efficient and agile approach. These changes will affect a total of 45 positions. These are not decisions taken lightly and we are providing comprehensive support to our affected colleagues. We also want to express our deepest gratitude and respect for your many contributions to the company,” the statement said.

This was the second layoff at Ubi in the last six months. Previously, in November last year, there were 124 dismissals. The industry's current situation is quite complicated, with layoffs having been frequent since mid-2023. It is estimated that more than 15,000 people have lost their jobs in recent months.

The company not only revealed the prototype of the NEO NPCs project, but has also been open to testing innovative solutions, validating the possibility of creating experiences. Find out more here.
