“We wanted an attractive body”, says director

The rumors that Stellar Blade's protagonist Eve would have her body based on a South Korean model were correct. Hyung-Tae Kim, the game's director, told Push Square that he actually scanned Shin Jae-eun to use her as the basis for the character. The face, however, was originally created by the developers.

Without mincing his tongue and oblivious to possible controversies, Kim commented that having a “attractive body for the user” it was an important base for Eve.

“Yes, we based Eve’s character on model Shin Jae-eun. We believed that her body shape would be a great reference for the character we were looking for. But her face was originally created in-house – just the model's body that we scanned into the game. Of course it depends on how you define beautiful bodies, but for us we wanted to create the most attractive body for the user, so that's why we made the decision to work with her.”

After much suspense, the game had its release date announced on State of Play. With more detailed gameplay showing Eve in action, Shift Up and PlayStation Studios confirmed the launch of the PS5 title for April 26th. Click here to learn more.
