Content Warning is a brand new horror game that's exploding on Steam, drawing thousands of players into a completely new experience. From the buzz of its early launch to how the game actually plays, here's everything you need to know.

From time to time, surprise hits shock the Internet as if out of nowhere. A single clip can attract millions of views on social media, and within days the game becomes a smash hit.

Among Us, Fall Guys, Lethal Company and more have all enjoyed such viral success in recent years, and now a new game is reportedly about to meet the same fate. Content Warning has only just launched and it's already climbing the charts like few other games before.

With more than 50,000 players discovering it simultaneously, this new release immediately skyrocketed into the list of the most played games on Steam and continues to quickly climb into the top 20. It goes up against juggernauts like Elden Ring, Destiny 2, and the recently released Dragon's Dogma 2, to name a few.

But what is Content Warning and why is it so popular? Here's everything you need to know.

What is Content Warning?

Content Warning is a brand new horror game released on April 1st. The concept of the game is simple: film your friends in scary situations, post the footage on “SpookTube” and hope it goes viral.

Each player is equipped with a camera and your goal is to venture into the dark, peek around every scary corner and capture your friends in the most horrifying moments.

Then, your goal will be to flee the scene to safety, share the images online and watch the views pile up.

As the slogan goes, “become famous or die trying!”

The scarier the situation, the more terrifying the nightmarish enemy you encounter, and the more expertly you film the whole thing, the better your chances of blowing up on social media. The more views your content gets, the more money you earn and the more upgrades you can purchase to make your videos even better.

It's a never-ending adrenaline experience, as the games last a total of three days, with lots of variation. “The more scary things you film, the more viral you become.”

With support for up to four players in online co-op, you can round up a few friends and treat them to some shocking scares, all in the name of buzz.

Get Content Warning for free on Steam, if you're quick
