Black Ops 6’s new multi-directional movement system is one of the biggest changes we’ve seen in Call of Duty in years, perhaps even the biggest change since the introduction of jetpacks in Advanced Warfare in 2014 .

This new move allows players to slide, sprint, and dive in any direction, lie on their backs instead of just their stomachs, and much more.

However, in the Black Ops 6 gameplay reveal trailer, nothing was said about the impact of this new mechanic in Warzone. Treyarch, however, confirmed in an interview with VentureBeat that the move will be consistent between the two games.

The goal is always to start by being unified”, explained Yale Miller, senior director of production at Treyarch, when asked how the two games would relate. “We have said it several times. If we teach the player something, we want to teach them only once…This applies to all modes. Zombies, Countryside. The movement and all these things, we’re trying to have unification.

Miller specifically mentioned that movement is designed to be unified across all modes in Black Ops 6, as was the case with Modern Warfare 2 (2022) and Modern Warfare 3 (2023). This should make the experience across all game modes in Black Ops 6 as consistent as possible.

This will undoubtedly be a major step forward for Call of Duty, one that could usher in a “new era” for the franchise.
