It’s been a long time since we had a main title of F-Zero, the futuristic racing franchise hasn’t had a game since 2004. And it looks like that’s not going to change anytime soon, as another Nintendo racing series takes its place.

In an interview with VideoGamesChronicle, the artist of F-Zero, Takaya Imamura has indicated that a new game in the franchise is unlikely, as the racing series Mario Kart currently fills that genre gap for Nintendo.

“I think it’s because Mario Kart is Nintendo’s most popular racing game, and a new F-Zero would cost a fortune.”

When asked about a franchise like Star Fox that gets more attention than F-Zero, Imamura said the following.
