Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth was postponed during Summer Game Fest.
While Final Fantasy 16 will be released in just a few weeks, we’ll have to wait a little longer until the release of Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth, the second part of the remake trilogy. But there was plenty of gameplay from the open world to see during the Summer Game Fest.
When will Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth be released? Originally announced in 2022 for the “coming winter”, the action RPG should now be available for PS5 in early 2024 at the earliest.

In Rebirth, Cloud, Tifa, Barret and Co. leave Midgar behind and explore the game world for the first time in the remake trilogy – which, however, will not be a classic open world as we know it from Skyrim, for example. According to Square Enix, all the important cornerstones of the original will find their way into Rebirth, but will also be expanded and expanded with new secrets and stories.
