There are many rumors that Square Enix would be working on a ‘remake’ of another of the most beloved games of final fantasy. We don’t know if that’s true, but what we can see is that we can already see the incredible ‘Memoria Project’, a non-playable ‘remake’ of the first minutes of final fantasy ix.

This project was developed by a group of fans of the game who wanted to see what it would look like with modern graphics and style on Unreal Engine 5. Here it is in its 25 minutes of glory.

In Final Fantasy IX: Memory Project we can see a high resolution ‘remake’ of the city of Alexandria while the little dark wizard Vivi —one of our favorite characters in the entire franchise— goes through it looking to enter the Tantalus play. This ends when he and his new friend Puck approach the castle and fireworks begin.

We don't know if Square Enix is making a FFIX remake, but the fan work on Final Fantasy IX: Memoria Project blew us away.

We think it’s unlikely that Square Enix is doing a ‘remake’ of FFIX. If it’s determined to be true and it looks as good as this project, we’d be very pleased.

If you are needing something final fantasy in your life, don’t forget that FFXVI is coming to PlayStation 5 on
