Final Fantasy XVI has been banned in Saudi Arabia

final fantasy xvi has been banned in saudi arabia

It seems that Final Fantasy XVI will not be released in Saudi Arabia when it launches on June 22 for PlayStation 5, as the Saudi Arabian General Commission for Audiovisual Media (a government body) has produced a report and stated that the game has been banned in the country.

The reason for the ban is the refusal to make “necessary” changes to the game, but what exactly they mean has not been specified.

After translation, the tweet reads like this: “For fans of the #FinalFantasyXVI game, we would like to clarify that it has not been released in the Realm, due to the publisher’s unwillingness to make the necessary modifications.”

It would not be the first time that Saudi Arabia has prohibited the launch of a cultural product in Saudi Arabia, and the most recent cases have been in the cinema with Lightyear, from Pixar, and with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Both are still banned in the country.
