Finding the Best Computer and Other Tips on How to Set Up a Gaming Room

How to Set Up a Gaming Room

Setting up a gaming room can be fun and rewarding. Finding a computer suitable for gaming and investing in some great accessories will set your game room on the right foot. Of course, one of the most important things you need is a quality PC that meets your specific needs, so ask yourself what type of games you want to play and what kind of hardware specs are necessary.

Some gamers prefer custom-built PCs that allow for more customization, while others go with pre-built machines because they don’t have the time or knowledge required to build their system from scratch. Read on to learn more about finding the best computer and other tips on how to set up a gaming room.

A gaming computer comprises many different components, each with additional capabilities. Knowing your machine’s requirements is essential before deciding which specs are right for you. Here are some common considerations:

Excellent Storage Space

You’ll need plenty of space if you plan on storing movies or music in addition to games. So it would help if you had at least 16GB. However, this depends on how often you download new content. If it’s just video games, then 16 GB should be enough.

A Great GPU (Graphics Processing Unit)

An excellent graphics card is an absolute must for gamers. Without one, you won’t be able to enjoy modern games. Nvidia GPUs such as the GTX 1070 or GTX 1080 tend to outperform their AMD counterparts like the RX 480, but they come with a higher price tag.

The Processor

Intel CPUs perform better than AMD when paired with a comparable graphics card. But when you get down to the nitty-gritty, both Intel and AMD CPUs perform well, so it comes down to personal preference.

Faster RAM

Most games don’t require more than 8GB of RAM, so 16GB is probably more than enough. Make sure your system can support an additional memory module if necessary because upgrading later is much more complex than installing now.

Better Sound Cards

It’s an optional upgrade, but if you’re a gamer who enjoys listening to music or watching movies, you’ll need something better than just an onboard soundcard. An external sound card will bring more depth and clarity to your entertainment experience.

How to Set Up a Gaming Room

Many people love playing video games, but few have time or space for it. If you’re not a gamer, but want to be able to play at home, here are some tips on how to set up a gaming room.

  • Pick a room in your house with good lighting and no distractions. It might be a basement, garage, or guest room. For better sound quality, choose an upstairs space away from other rooms.
  • Choose furniture that’s comfortable and has lots of storage space. Console gamers should use a couch and tables with plenty of room for controllers, remotes, game discs, chargers, and more. PC gamers can go without as much seating space if they plan to sit on the floor next to their computer monitor.
  • Use large items like desks or shelving units to hold all the gear you need. Consider how many components will be plugged into power outlets around your gaming area so you don’t run out of outlets quickly. If necessary, you’ll also want to invest in extension cords and surge protectors. Once everything is set up, run your cables behind couches and carpets for a cleaner look. It’s essential to organize your cables when possible so that wires aren’t tangled together or resting on top of each other.
  • The final step is to buy chair mats. These mats will prevent wear-and-tear from wearing down your floors while protecting them against liquids spilt during gaming sessions.

How to decorate my Gaming Room?

You need to decorate your gaming room. Ensure there are:

  1. Ambient lighting– Low or no ambient light is not suitable for gamers because it can cause eyestrain, so ensure you have lights that give off low levels of light that won’t cause eye strain.
  2. Tables and Chairs – You will want furniture for people to sit in while playing video games. These tables and chairs should also provide enough space for game controllers, phones, laptops, headphones, speakers, etcetera without being crowded.
  3. Appropriate home theater system- A proper sound system is necessary if your friends come over for gaming sessions. Remember what consoles your friends play; some only support stereo sound while others support 5.1 surround sound systems.
  4. Wall decor– You will want to post posters of your favorite gaming characters. Find pictures online and print them out on A4 paper. The easiest way is using an image search engine such as Google Image Search with the keyword wallpaper.
