From the fridge to the popcorn bucket: the new Xbox Series X Limited Edition races past the taste of many fans
Xbox and popcorn are a nice combination, but not literally.
There wasn’t much to see at this year’s Summer Game Fest. So… in terms of new hardware! Only Microsoft took pity on us technology enthusiasts and presented an exclusive desEsports Extrasfor the 75th birthday of the first sports car from the Porsche brand.
The idiosyncratic exterior meets with little enthusiasm on social media, and many fans even arouse unwanted associations with a paper bucket intended for treats.
Strictly Limited Anniversary Xbox Consoles
With the 356 “No. 1” Roadster, Ferdinand Porsche constructed the first sports car from the German car manufacturer in 1948, exactly 75 years ago.
Xbox is now celebrating the day of honor together with its long-term cooperation partner (a Porsche expansion was released for Forza Motorsport 6, for example) and is giving away 75 specially painted Xbox Series X consoles in six different designs.
One of them was on display in all its glory at the Summer Games Fest:
The look is based on the livery of the Porsche 963 that competes in the 24 Hours of Le Mans this weekend.
However, the colorful desEsports Extraswith the elongated stripes did not really meet with enthusiasm, and a short time later malice followed. A number of fans compared the console to a popular cinema snack, for example:

Pretty annoying for Microsoft, considering that even the simple basic desEsports Extrasof the Series X attracted ridicule. At that time it was compared to a refrigerator, jokingly, the Redmond technology giant actually had a mini freezer built:
“Higher chance for me!”
Another commenting person expects better chances, when so many gamers don’t want to put the eye-catching desEsports Extrasnext to their TVs. Not a bad idea to head to the raffle page with this thought.
Maybe you’ll get your hands on a brand new Xbox Series X and maybe the other five limited editions will look a little better. But they are only hinted at in promo images:
A more playful look is suggested for the other designs.
The closing date for entries is October 1, 2023, the special editions should not be sold. Only further participation possibilities via Twitter, Facebook and Co. are promised.
When will a limited edition be available again?
The limited edition Xbox Series X for the launch of Halo: Infinite is no longer officially available for purchase, no wonder, after all it was launched over a year ago.
But maybe we will soon see one in a chic Starfield design, a suitable controller has already been leaked by insiders.
On Sunday, June 11th, we may already know more. Then Microsoft will show its upcoming game highlights as part of the Summer Game Fest. It’s supposed to start at 7 p.m., but so far only Bethesda’s space epic has been directly confirmed. This is shown for almost half an hour.
What do you say? Would you offer the Porsche Xbox a new home?
