These new generations of graphics are giving us much more than higher resolutions and framerates. The new technologies that are associated with the development of our GPUs have added advantages such as ray tracing, but also help performance using incredible algorithms.
Although it is true that Nvidia’s DLSS seems to be the king of the heavyweights in this category, offering very good results to all users of the green team, it is true that it leaves out all those who do not have a graph of their RTX model brand. that’s where they come in AMD and its FSR 2.0or FidelityFX Super Resolution.
The red team option is available for all types of graphics, whether they support DLSS or not, but only if the game developers decide to implement it. Or at least that is the official position. PC modders have another idea, and have decided to expand the catalog of titles that can use FSR 2.0 in a very clever way.
And it is that AMD decided to publish the source code of its new algorithm, which has led astute programmers to realize that they could implement it in games that were DLSS compliant no need for official support. This has led to games like Cyberpunk 2077, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Metro Exodus and Death Stranding being able to benefit from this technology, seeing performance improvements at high resolutions of up to 30%.
It should be noted that while these mods can greatly help with game performance, their implementation is not perfect, and they can still have visual bugs. Even so, it is a success and it features a host of benefits for those without an RTX graphics card.
