Magical weapons, shields and armor abound in Baldur's Gate 3. But if you want to get a particularly strong item in Act 1, solve the riddle of the ceremonial weapons. You can read here where you can find them and how you can get the “Lathander’s Blood” mace.

If you explore the mountain pass in Act 1, it's best to visit the Rosenmorg Monastery. There you will find the Githyanki Nativity and can receive, among other things, “Lathander’s Blood”. The weapon was blessed by Lathander, the god of the monastery.

She does 8-13 damage per hit. With the ability “Lathander's Blessing” you can “resurrect” once per long rest: If the wearer's life points fall to 0, he and all allies within a radius of nine meters receive 2-12 or 2-6 life points back. You can also use the weapon to cast “Sunbeam” and blind fiends and undead.

However, in order to unlock the mace, you need the so-called ceremonial weapons.

You can read even more reasons to visit the Gith nativity scene here:

This is how you get the ceremonial weapons

To secure “Lathander’s Blood,” you need the three ceremonial weapons:

  • The ceremonial ax,
  • the ceremonial gavel
  • and the ceremonial mace

You can collect the ceremonial mace shortly after entering the monastery: If you stand in front of the entrance, you can climb through a cracked stained glass window. One of the goblins who gets drunk there carries it with him.

If you continue climbing you will find a magically sealed door. But with a little dexterity you can easily open it. Unfortunately, even then a ghost protector blocks your way. He must be defeated so you can get the Ceremonial Ax.

You will finally find two eagles on the roof of the monastery. You have the ceremonial mace with you. The two are part of another quest that you can receive from a small bird.

If you touch the nest, the eagles will immediately attack you.

However, if you talk about it or even touch the nest, you will have to fight. Alternatively, you can sneak up on the nest invisibly and steal the weapon.

In the monastery you will find a room with several altars and a stained glass window in the floor. Now you have to place your loot on the corresponding altars. To do this, read the tablets: The hammer belongs to the Seed Altar, the ax to Vaseid and the mace to Stockhalt.

Theoretically, you can also take weapons of the required type that are not the specific ceremonial weapons. But if you have already collected them, you can use them immediately and then take them back with you.

If you have done everything correctly, a secret door will open. Take the coat of arms hidden behind it with you.

The next step takes you to the Githyanki crib in the basement of the monastery. Make your way to the northernmost room. There on the left side you will find two statues that need to be turned.

Unfortunately, the mechanism has not been used for a very long time. Use the Smear spell or one or two bottles of oil. The lubricant lets you use the statues again.

Go through the now opened door and follow the path. Next, a magical door blocks your way. You turn it off by destroying the blue crystal on the wall.

If you continue along the path to the left, you will have to remove a second such crystal. Here are a few traps that you can skip or defuse. Finally you have to destroy a third crystal.

Now you are faced with “Lathander’s Blood”. In order not to trigger the safety mechanism when stealing the weapon, you have to take the mace and place the seal you collected in advance on the base.

Important: If you don't get the seal, you can still get the mace. However, the mechanism recognizes you with the seal as the so-called “Twilight Master” and stops the self-destruction. But if you don't have it with you, you have to leave the monastery within four moves to avoid being blown up.

Alternatively, you can also try to shoot the four energy cores in time. Where there is no energy, there is no explosion.

You are now in possession of the weapon. If you don't want to give it to your own character, it looks particularly good in Shadowheart's hands. You can read how best to skill the cleric here:
