“People will have to play the game for themselves. And if in the first 11 minutes and 47 seconds they are not convinced of what we are doing, we can have the discussion. (…) I was reviewing the game very recently and I thought: ‘The answer is there!’ I just hope and wish that people can keep an open mind about this and see the game for what it is. “It’s an Assassin’s Creed game and I think it’s the best one we’ve ever made.”

When it was revealed that Yasuke would be one of the protagonists of Assassin’s Creed: ShadowsElon Musk shared a tweet pointing out that “diversity, equity and inclusion are killing art.” This message set the community on fire, who share the same opinion. However, Côté has pointed out that this is not the case, and Yasuke is a character that caught the attention of the developers, which is why they chose to use this historical person.

We remind you that Assassin’s Creed: Shadows will arrive on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC on November 15, 2024. On related topics, you can check out the new gameplay of this installment here.

Author’s Note:

Assassin’s Creed is a series that constantly plays with real people. So this is not new for Ubisoft. Yasuke was a real person, so the developers have the opportunity to offer something they’ve done in the past, only a protagonist this time. I honestly don’t understand why this bothers many players.
