Gearbox is pronounced for the first time on the Duke Nukem movie
In mid-June of last year, the media The Hollywood Reporter echoed that the production company Legendary Entertainment had acquired the rights to the saga Duke Nukem Gearbox Software to carry out a film adaptation by the producers of Cobra Kai. At the same time it was reported that the script had not yet been written and that the project did not yet have a director since he was in the early stages of production. However, just a few hours ago Gearbox itself has ruled on the tape in a recent statement on its official page, implying that it is still running.
As we can read in the report, Gearbox has announced the acquisition of Captured Dimensions, a Texas technology company specializing in 3D capture, scanning, and reconstruction services. Captured Dimensions has worked on some of the most recognized films from production companies such as 20th Century FOX, Lionsgate, Sony Pictures, Netflix and various titles from both 2K Games and Electronic Arts.
The purchase will bring incredible technology to future Gearbox Software projects.
“We have had the pleasure of working with (company head) Jordan and his team at Captured Dimensions on various projects over the years – this deal brings a wealth of talent to the Gearbox family in several key areas, and I am excited to welcome them back,” said Sean Haran, director of business for Gearbox Entertainment. “This acquisition brings incredible technology for future projects and allows for further expansion of offerings to strategic partners across multiple business units.
On behalf of the entire Captured Dimensions team, I’m looking forward to seeing what we can capture and bring to life as part of Gearbox.
“This merger provides us with an incredible runway for growth and opportunity. We are excited to be working hand-in-hand with some of the most talented developers from around the world and continue to offer our best services to our current customers and new partnerssaid Jordan Williams, President and Founder of Captured Dimensions. “On behalf of the entire Captured Dimensions team, I’m looking forward to seeing what we can capture and bring to life as part of Gearbox.”
At the end of the release we can find a description of Gearbox in which the Duke Nukem movie is quoted. “Gearbox Entertainment is comprised of four subsidiaries: Gearbox Software, Gearbox Publishing, Gearbox Studio, and Gearbox Properties. The Gearbox Studios subsidiary was formed in 2022 to create cutting-edge transmedia opportunities, including upcoming movies and series based on borderlands, Duke Nukem Y Brothers in Arms“.
