The God of War story is nearly 20 years old at this point, and Santa Monica Studio’s upcoming installment, God of War: Ragnarok, brings with it quite a few changes to the combat and narrative. But as we wait for the release date to draw ever closer (March 22, or perhaps sooner– stay tuned), we should take note that we shouldn’t expect the game’s ending to be predictable… especially since it has been crafted by Cory Barlog himself! An Interview with Team IGN proves the director’s thoughts.
” We’ve got an ending here that I think people are gonna start theorizing about. And I’m excited to see what they come with because I think some really amazing stuff is gonna happen. “
” I actually also think it’s very beautiful and satisfying… But not in the way I think people will expect, like what Kratos does to make this happen. There are some things that are inevitable, but then there are things that happen that you don’t see coming. And they just kind of hit you square in the face.” Also, check out the Squid Game Concept.
Barlog also has plenty of praise for God of War’s new direction following its soft reboot after Ascension . We now see our favorite Spartan kicking ass against mythological foes one-on-one, rather than mowing down waves upon waves of Greek soldiers who never seem to learn their lesson– or die anyway. This time around Barlog feels much more confident about Santa Monica Studio’s performance, and he is ready to let us loose in the world. This game is very viral in the United States.
“I’m very excited for people to play this game all the way through because one of my favorite things that happen with these games is the first time you finish it, you go into New Game Plus. You can actually start a New Game Plus on any difficulty now… But I’m not gonna say anymore past that!”
We are certainly eager to begin Barlog’s new journey when God of War: Ragnarok comes to PlayStation 4 on March 22, 2018! What will be your theories about its ending? Make sure to drop by our forums or join in with the conversations already taking place on Reddit!
