Gran Turismo 8 has apparently entered development
A constant in the Gran Turismo saga is the long times between numbered releases, as was the wait between Gran Turismo 6 and Gran Turismo 7. Despite the interlude of Gran Turismo Sportwhich did not convince everyone, it seems that fans of the series will not have to wait that long for the next entry. the developer Polyphony Digitto the has apparently started work on the next installment in the racing sim franchise.
The data is according to the head of Polyphony Digital and producer of Grand Touring, Kazunori Yamauchi. When asked in a recent interview with Japanese outlet Game Watch if there was anything specific he wanted to do for Gran Turismo in the future that the series hasn’t yet accomplished, Yamauchi suggested that Polyphony Digital has started work on the next Gran Turismo game. Grand Touringthough, unsurprisingly, he declined to go into too much detail.
He said via a Google translation: “I’m starting to run towards the next one, but I can’t tell you yet. It’s a shame I can’t talk much.”
Of course, Polyphony Digital is still working on post-launch support for Gran Turismo 7, which also includes full VR support to bring the game in line with the PS VR2 launch later this month. The developer has also previously said that while it has considered a PC port, one is not currently in the works.
