Hollow Knight hits a new record for concurrent players on Steam
You don’t need a big budget to win the hearts of gamers. Nor to stand up as one of the great games of the last generation. Hollow Knight is the perfect example.
Team Cherry nailed it with this challenging metroidvania, released in February 2017 for PC and later ported to PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. There are many reasons why fans are looking forward to its sequel, Silksong.
More than five years have passed since its launch, but Hollow Knight maintains its essence… and success. Don’t you believe us? Well, pay attention to this great news for the adventure of the Hollow Knight.
Hollow Knight: Silk Song gameplay
On May 7, quite an event took place for Hollow Knight on Steam, Valve’s platform. Until said day, the maximum peak of metroidvania players was 13,721.
Against all odds, and as we can see on SteamDB, Hollow Knight shattered his record for simultaneous players just three days ago. The Team Cherry title managed to gather 20,324 players at the same time…and only on Steam, of course.
As I write these lines There are 10,250 players rocking Hollow Knight on Steam. It is very commendable that a title over 5 years old achieves this… and more with the wide range of games available on the platform.
Why is this record so late? There are several reasons that explain it. The first is obvious: Hollow Knight is an extraordinary gamewhich many players discover for the first time in this 2022.
The second, perhaps even more obvious, is that Hollow Knight was discounted on Valve’s platformwith a 60% discount applied to its original PVP.
And the third: the fans are really looking forward to it being released Hollow Knight: Silk Song, a sequel that Team Cherry is developing for PC and Nintendo Switch. In fact, from here we cross our fingers so that tomorrow we know something more in the Indie World.
Hollow Knight is one of the best games of the past decade. Is available in PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, although you can enjoy it on PS5 and Xbox Series X | S thanks to backward compatibility. And of course also is available on Game Pass.
