Iconic PlayStation Logo Sound Creator Passes Away

All of us who have had a PlayStation remember that when we turned on the console, we were presented with the famous PS logo and an iconic sound that accompanied it. Until now, there has not been a more representative sound than that, along with that of the first PlayStation. It was a very simple sound, but any time it appears in a commercial or trailer, fans immediately know that a PlayStation product will be featured.

It was composed by musician Tohru Okada, who sadly, Okada’s bandmates, the Moonriders, shared the news of his passing on Twitter, along with an image of the legendary composer.

According to reports by Japanese outlet Excite (via Kotaku), Okada passed away on February 14 at the age of 73. His cause of death was reportedly heart failure.
