Koumajou Remilia II: Stranger’s Requiem Coming to Nintendo Switch

If you like Japanese games, this week you are going to put on your boots with the amount of news that will arrive from the Tokyo Game Show. And what’s more Japanese than a good self-published fan spin-off of the Touhou Project? Following the early summer release of Koumajou Remilia: Scarlet Symphony, today it was confirmed that the second “Touhouvania”, Koumajou Remilia II: Stranger’s Requiem will also resurface in an improved version for Nintendo Switch and Steam.

Sakuya Izayoi goes hunting in Koumajou Remilia II: Stranger’s Requiem

As with the first remaster, CFK and Frontier Aja are in charge of bringing this improved version of the fangame to new platforms. Not much more details have been given about this version of Koumajou Remilia II: Stranger’s Requiem, beyond the fact that it will arrive in English, Japanese, Chinese (simplified and traditional), Korean and French, but presumably the news will be very similar to the ones we already told you about in the Koumajou Remilia: Scarlet Symphony review.

As in the first installment, here the Touhou universe is mixed with the aesthetics and gameplay of the original NES and SNES Castlevanias. This means that we are not facing a metroidvania, if not to screens with your start, boss and end. As a novelty, in this delivery we do not handle Reimu, if not Sakuya Izayoi the head maid scarlet mansion which means that our main weapon will no longer be a whip, but rather we will use knives for both close and long range combatbecause this does not stop being a Touhou and the combats are of bullet hell either Danmaku.

The release date of this new version of the classic is unknown, but let’s hope it doesn’t take a year from the announcement to its publication as happened with Scarlet Symphony.
