Launch Maps Confirmed: CoD Modern Warfare 3 brings back 16 maps from the original MW2 and now I’m so excited!

These are the Modern Warfare 3 launch maps.

Highrise, Rust and Co. – Who else knows them? The maps from the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 from 2009 are among the best CoD maps ever for many fans of the shooter series. And as developer studio Sledgehammer now confirms, they are returning in the latest series derivative.

The total of 16 maps are remastered variantsi.e. graphically revised versions of the original maps from the 2009 MW 2.

The launch maps were confirmed as part of a marketing campaEsports Extrasby Activision and Sledgehammer (via CharlieIntel). Ahead of today’s unveiling event, the creators have released a mysterious cell phone number. Anyone who sends the name of an original MW2 map there will receive a confirmation in response.

CoD Modern Warfare 3 – The first trailer shows the return of the series’ biggest villain

Back then, I spent countless hours playing the multiplayer of the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and probably know the shooter’s maps better than the town I grew up in. In the meantime, however, I have turned my back on the CoD series and play a few rounds of Warzone at most when I have the time and inclination.

The fact that MW3 brings back the maps from the original second part of the Warzone series is of course damn good news for me as a fan and now there are no more excuses for me to spend at least a while in the multiplayer of this year’s CoD to do something in indulge in nostalgia!
