New info about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has been revealed. A popular feature on PS5 will be unavailable, but the exclusive will be accessible to as many people as possible.
The start of the 2023 video game season is already one of the richest we have seen. And for once, everyone will be housed in the same boat since Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo will each have beautiful cartridges. At Sony, it is Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 which should break records and make PS5 sales soar even more. A few months before its launch, new interesting details reach us.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be released without this feature
If Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will certainly be classic in substance, it already looks very promising in form. The latest stunning image of Venom is here to attest to that. The wizards at Insomniac Games are yet to demonstrate their technical savvy, but unfortunately they may disappoint some gamers at launch.
The Snitch, who has finally come out of his insider retirement, has teased the game. When Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 releases on October 20, 2023, it will only have two graphics modes. “Fidelity” in native 4k at 30fps with ray-tracing and additional visual effects, and “Performance” in dynamic 4K at 60fps without ray-tracing and enhancements.
Until then, it’s the same as the previous two episodes. Nevertheless, we note that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will not be entitled to the “Performance RT” mode which combines 60fps and ray-tracing to the detriment of details (pedestrians, quality of reflections…) and a resolution lower. A lack that may only be temporary. Whether it’s Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, Miles Morales PS5 or Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, all have a “Performance RT” mode. Adding the option later is probably part of the studio’s roadmap. On the other hand, the package will be put on the accessibility of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 from the start.
A new PS5 exclusive more accessible than ever
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be better looking, bigger and also darker, but also more accessible than ever. In an FAQ on the game’s PlayStation page, Insomniac Games announces new accessibility options for people with disabilities. If you’re visually impaired or deaf, this PS5 sequel will be able to read menu text or cutscene subtitles aloud. Those who have motor problems, the speed of actions can be drastically reduced. Knowing that you can go back at any time and very easily.
- Audio: the screen reader reads aloud the text displayed on the screen in the menus
- Subtitles: cutscenes have subtitles and are compatible with audio description
- Gameplay: You can slow the speed of actions by 70%, 50%, or 30%, and return to base speed at any time
And these are just new accessibility options in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. All the elements implemented in other previous games in terms of gameplay, camera, DualSense controller, HUD, sub -titles, audio or visuals, will be present without delay. For example, the color of the subtitles or the background can be changed. QTE scenes can be completed without pressing a button. Improved auto-aim allows you to lock enemies more easily. The dodge window is bigger etc.
A collector’s edition, faceplates, a Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 controller, and a limited PS5 are offered for release.
