Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will not have the Chrysler Building due to copyright issues
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 It has all the earmarks of being a much bigger game than its previous entries, and this also translates into the title map. The developer Insomniac Games has confirmed that the open world of the upcoming sequel, New York, will be approximately twice the size of the previous two entries in the series. New boroughs such as Queens (where you can also visit Aunt May’s house) and Brooklyn will be added, while Coney Island will also be present, although it appears that a notable New York landmark will not be present in the game.
Insomniac has confirmed to the New York Times that the Chrysler Building will not appear in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, because the developer could not reach an agreement with the copyright owners of the building. Although the skyscraper was present in the open world setting of the original 2018 title, in Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales of 2020 they had the same problem.
It’s a shame, considering the emblematic nature of the building. The Chrysler Building was home to Kingpin’s base of operations in the 90s animated series. Additionally, in the games Spider-Man 1 and 2 for PS2, GameCube and Xbox, was present and appears in one of the scenes of the first game.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launches on October 20 for PS5.
