Meta Quest 3 is planned to launch this 2023
Facebook parent Meta is reportedly planning to launch its Meta Quest 3 device later this year, according to a Reality Labs presentation to its employees.
The presentation, which was shared with The Verge, contained details about Quest 3, as well as two more headsets and Meta’s AR development projects.
Speculation of a Quest 3 release soon was recently fueled by news that Meta is ending support for its original Quest VR headset, with the company continuing to deliver security patches through 2024.
Meta reportedly told employees that the Quest 3 will be “twice as thin and at least twice as powerful” as the Quest 2, with a slightly more expensive price tag than the $400 Quest 2.
It was further noted that the headset will “prominently feature mixed reality experiences,” by using front-facing cameras to feed videos of your surroundings. Mixed reality will reportedly be one of Quest 3’s biggest selling points.
