Microsoft Ends $1 Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Promotion
When Microsoft first launched its service xbox game pass (before changing its name), it also launched a very tempting offer, a month of service for a dollar. Said offer arises from time to time for new subscribers to join Game Pass, however, that will no longer happen. New would-be Game Pass subscribers will no longer be able to get their first month for a dollar, as the company has ended the promotion.
In a statement to The Verge, Xbox head of global communications Kari Perez confirmed that the offer no longer exists. She further admitted that they are evaluating other options for new members in the future, although she did not specify what they might be.
“We have stopped our previous introductory offer for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass and are evaluating different marketing promotions for new members in the future.”
Perhaps one of the new features that could replace the one dollar promotion would be the Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family Plan. This plan will allow subscribers to share a subscription with up to four friends or family members, and Microsoft began testing the new tier in multiple countries last year.
Xbox Game Pass will continue with the standard monthly subscription of $14.99 a month for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or $9.99 a month for a PC or console subscription. There’s no word yet on what Xbox’s possible alternative marketing promotion for Game Pass might be.
