My Dress-Up Darling: Marin Kitagawa is chosen as ‘girl of the year’ at the Anime Trending Awards

The ‘anime’ of My Dress Up Darling (Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru) got another nod, this time at the 9th Anime Trending Awards. His main character, Marin Kitagawa, was chosen as the ‘girl of the year’ of the ‘anime’ after nine continuous weeks in the lead. These awards (annual and seasonal) measure the popularity of the variety of ‘anime’ available on the different ‘streaming’ platforms.

In Anitrendz measurements, My Dress Up Darling has received nine recognitions from the last quarter of 2022 until Marin Kitagawa’s award at the 9th Anime Trending Awards. Thus becoming one of the most successful serials among the public. The second season has already been confirmed. but its release date has not been announced, as it is still in production.

Who is Marin Kitagawa from My Dress Up Darling (Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru)?

My Dress Up Darling follow the story of Wakana Gojo, a high school student with a talent for crafts and who likes to make hina dolls, decorative figures used for celebrations such as Hinamatsuri and other special occasions. Due to past experiences surrounding his hobby, he has become introverted and unable to make friends.

One day, a popular and ‘fashionista’ girl named Marin Kitagawa, Wakana’s classmate, sees him secretly using a sewing machine. So she asks him to help her make her cosplay costumes. Although nervous and unknown to the world of ‘cosplayers’ and the fandom, Gojo accepts Marin’s proposal. Together they learn more about the world of ‘cosplay’, its subculture and about each other.
