The world of video games increasingly has more and more television adaptations, from the well-known The Last of Us series to the Fallout series being prepared by Prime Video. In fact, it is Netflix the one that is exploiting this niche of stories and universes the most, and the next adaptation to premiere on the streaming platform will be an Onimusha anime. Plus, it comes with controversy and everything.

This anime of Onimusha, Capcom’s famous action game series, is directed by the Japanese director Takashi Miikeknown for his participation in violent movies such as Audition, Ichi the Killer, Blade of the Immortal and Gozu. Apart from directing the live-action Ace Attorney from 2012.

This Onimusha anime will premiere on Netflix next November 2 and will continue the adventures of Musashi Miyamotocharacter of Onimusha: Blade Warriors. Furthermore, his appearance has been based on that of the legendary Japanese actor Toshiro Mifuneknown for appearing in Akira Kurosawa films such as Seven Samurai and Rashomon.

“This is the beginning of an intense realistic action packed series in which Musashi’s sword cuts evil as he traverses a land plagued by poverty,” says Netflix’s description of this trailer.

“At the beginning of the Edo period, Musashi is no longer a young man. He sets out with the legendary Oni Gauntlet to defeat Genma. The 3D CGI characters and hand-drawn backgrounds create phenomenal visuals. “Onimusha is given a new life using modern animation technology,” Netflix said in the official announcement of the series last year (via VGC).

Next September 27, Netflix organizes the ‘Drop 01’ event dedicated to animated series of the company, and it is possible that new details of this and other productions will be released. Just one day later, Castlevania: Nocturne, the new anime that adapts the story of the Konami games, will be released.
