Highlights at Amazon Prime Video in September 2022

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power: On September 2nd, Amazon wants to kidnap us back to Middle-earth. On this date, the first season of the 500 million US dollar project starts, which takes place long before Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogy and uses ideas from JRR Tolkien’s The Silmarillion. Specifically, it goes into the Second Age of Middle-earth.

According to initial reactions, The Rings of Power could be a real Middle-earth highlight. However, the first trailers for the TV series have already split the GameStar community. It remains exciting to see whether Amazon’s TV series will live up to JRR Tolkien’s original and offer us a similarly epic experience as Peter Jackson’s film trilogy.

Mortal Kombat: From September 13th, fists will be flying on Amazon Prime Video as soon as the remake of Mortal Kombat starts on the streaming service. The film revolves around the protagonist Cole Young (Lewis Tan) – a completely new character who has never appeared in any of the video games before. But don’t worry, well-known characters like Sonya Blade (Jessica McNamee), Sub-Zero (Joe Taslim), Kano (Josh Lawson) or Scorpion (Hiroyuki Sanada) don’t sit out in the fight either.

Mortal Kombat by director Simon McQuoid hit theaters in April 2021 and a second part is already in development. If you haven’t paid attention to the game adaptation, now is perhaps the best opportunity to do so. By the way, if you are interested in all future movies and series based on our favorite video games, we have a handy overview for you.
