Nintendo Switch is already the third best-selling console in history
A few hours ago, the results of Nintendo’s quarterly report corresponding to Q3 of the current fiscal year were published. That is, the results from the month of October to December 31. And there are several really interesting facts.
The most notorious and prominent is undoubtedly that Nintendo Switch became in that period in the third best-selling console in historythus surpassing the combined figures of the entire Game Boy range (including Game Boy Pocket and Game Boy Color), and now ahead of Nintendo DS (154.02 million units sold) and PlayStation 2 (159 million).
Some total sales figures also stand out, such as 52 million units of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (of which we know that at least 900,000 units were sold in USA), the million and a half units of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and the 9.4 million for Splatoon 3.
Finally, it should be noted that Nintendo’s digital software sales have increased by 21.5% from the same period of the previous year, and that digital sales on Nintendo eShop account for 46% of total sales of video games on the platform. In addition, the October-December period was the one that saw the greatest increase, with 10.2%, leaving record profits for the company.
Brief mention is made of the launches planned for this 2023, in which Pikmin 4 still has no final datebut that may change if it is confirmed that we will have a Nintendo Direct this week.
