One Piece: Luffy’s Gear 5 is also making its video game debut soon – first gameplay shows what it looks like
One Piece doesn’t just dish out neatly in anime and manga, but also in video game form.
One Piece is currently at an absolute peak thanks to Gear 5 and the spectacular events in manga and anime. The new transformation stage of hero Luffy will soon take place in a video game too: soon there will be a DLC for One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4, and in it we will apparently also see Gear 5 in action. There is even a first short gameplay clip.
This is what Gear 5 looks like in One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4
That’s what it’s about: With Gear 5, Luffy soars to new heights in One Piece. There are hardly any limits to its power and the associated possibilities. If he can imagine it, he can do it. Which leads to attacks that are almost ridiculous and eclipse everything that has come before.

One Piece: Teaser trailer shows Luffy’s Gear 5
Not just in manga and anime anymore: Of course, Luffy’s new transformation stage Gear 5 made its debut in the manga, which is generally ahead in terms of story developments and the like. In the meantime, however, we have already seen Gear 5 in the film adaptation as an anime series. Now it’s finally the turn of the video game world.
Gear 5 comes as DLC: Gear 5 will also be used in an expansion pack for the older One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 called The Battle of Onigashima. Unfortunately, we don’t see too much of it yet, but at least we can get a first glimpse of Luffy’s Gear 5 in motion here:

The question in the tweet as to whether this is Gear 5 can safely be dismissed as rhetorical. Of course, we’re dealing with Luffy’s new transformation here. The white hair, the subsequent walking and also the main character’s amusement are more than clear. It’s just a shame that the gameplay clip breaks off at this point.
When is the DLC coming? The Battle of Onigashima Pack is slated for release sometime in September 2023, with no specific date set yet. However, the whole thing is part of the so-called Character Pass 2, which introduces more characters with DLC 5 and 6, a total of nine.
Then, of course, there’s the Netflix adaptation of One Piece. It brings you the beginnings of the legendary story, with real actors. You won’t have to wait much longer: all episodes of the first season will be available for streaming on the platform at the end of this month. If you’re a One Piece fan, you really can’t complain about too little content at the moment.
Are you looking forward to the DLC and digging out Pirate Warriors 4 again or are you still playing it anyway? How do you like the video game look of Gears 5?
