One Piece: This is what the straw hat pirates look like in the Netflix series as children
Monkey D. Luffy will not only be in this look and age in the One Piece series on Netflix.
It won’t be long before Netflix’s One Piece film adaptation is available to stream. In advance, of course, the advertising drum will be vigorously banged again and that means, among other things, that we will now also be able to see Luffy, Zoro and Co. as children. A direct comparison with the anime shows what the characters look like in their younger version.

That’s what it’s about: In case you haven’t noticed, know that One Piece is coming soon as a Netflix series starring real actors. The project is already finished and the release is coming soon. It starts August 31st and you can watch the latest trailer for the series here:

One Piece: Second Netflix Trailer shows us more of the story and characters from the live-action series
What do the child pirates look like? Anyone who has read the manga or watched the anime series knows that in it we get to see Monkey D. Luffy, Nami, Roronoa Zoro and a few others as children. That will also be the case in the Netflix adaptation. While the look of the older characters has been known for a long time, the pictures of the younger versions are only now available.
Here you can see the direct comparison to the anime version:
That’s how it looks young Luffy in the live action version of One Piece. Apparently the scene here shows him just after he injures himself in the face with the knife. To the right you can see young Luffy from the anime with band-aids:

The young Nami can also be seen. Complete with a shock of red hair and the same clothes as in the anime. As usual, here is the Netflix version on the left and the anime version on the right:

The reactions the pictures are mostly pretty positive. After initial skepticism, most fans seem to be at least cautiously optimistic about the Netflix film.
The only problem with the young actors could be the ravages of time. A lot of flashbacks come much later in the manga, and if the Netflix series ever gets that far, the actors would probably be far too old for their roles by that point. Presumably the film adaptation will therefore prefer the background stories.
