The remastered versions for all platforms of Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden They have been hard pressed but they are finally here. But while a milestone as big as this is worthy of celebration, not everyone seems to be happy about the launch. This is because once again one of those most widespread malpractices in the industry has occurred, which is also done deliberately in the industry. I speak of not include everyone who has worked on the game in the credits, in this case to the translators. And when I talk about it being one of the most widespread malpractices, I’m not just saying it.

Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden do not credit their translators

Due to the way the industry works, it is common for project workers have to sEsports ExtrasNDAs (Non Disclosure Agreement or confidentiality agreements). In these documents it is usual that they are prohibited, under sanctions of dismissal and/or astronomical monetary penalties, from sharing any type of information of the game, including that you have worked on it. And these prohibitions do not end with the publication of the project! That is, therefore, the reason why it is so important to appear in the credits of the projects, because it is the only way to prove that you have worked on it. If you do not appear, you cannot put it on the resume as you cannot prove it. The companies know this and that is why many times they put unfair clauses and all kinds of obstacles to include workers who have left the project early, for whatever reason, despite the fact that their work is in the final product. And “curiously” the workers who most often suffer this abuse They are the ones further down the chain of command: QA managers and translators.

The complaint of this malpractice comes from katrina leonoudakis, who was the producer of the SEGA localization of both projects for much of the year that it took to translate the two games simultaneously. In the Twitter thread, which you can read below, Leonoudakis tells how, before he left as project leader, he made sure to ask that all the workers of the different translation teams be accredited, which to his surprise was not has been respected.

From here we encourage fans to demand that each and every one of the workers who work on the games, series and/or movies be accredited, since otherwise it is going against their rights. Let’s hope that SEGA and ATLUS retract this decision and include all workers, even if it is through a post-launch patch.
