Play Disney Dreamlight Valley for free: everything you need to know about the 2023 release
This year, Disney Dreamlight Valley is finally set to emerge from the Early Access phase.
The Disney Dreamlight Valley life simulation plays like Nintendo’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but in the world of Disney. In the game you will meet all sorts of characters from Toy Story, The Lion King and other cartoons.
The big difference to Animal Crossing is that the full version of Disney Dreamlight Valley will be free. In this article we will tell you when it will start and what you should know about the switch to the free-to-play model.
Disney Dreamlight Valley will be free
Disney Dreamlight Valley has been in Early Access for PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC since September 6th, 2022. If you want to play the title currently, you have to buy the Founders Pack at a price of 29.99 euros. Only after the Early Access phase will Disney Dreamlight Valley become free.
There is another possibility: All Xbox Game Pass subscribers also have the opportunity to play the title now at no additional cost.

When will Disney Dreamlight Valley be free? The development team stated that Disney Dreamlight Valley will be released as a free-to-play title in 2023. Gameloft officials explain on Steam that the release of the full version depends on how fast the development speed is.
But the life simulation should remain in Early Access for at least six months. This means that a release before March 2023 will not take place. It is much more likely that Disney Dreamlight Valley will be released in summer/fall 2023.
The game is currently receiving numerous updates. In the latest update, the winter update has been implemented:

What changes with the release of the full version? Once Disney Dreamlight Valley leaves Early Access, there will be a shop with cosmetic items that can be used to further customize your character and house. Otherwise, the items from the in-game shop should not provide any playful advantage.
There will also be paid game expansions that you can optionally buy. As in the current phase, there will be free updates with new characters and story sections for everyone else.
So far, Disney Dreamlight Valley has been a purely solo adventure. The development team has not yet confirmed that there will be a multiplayer mode. But the team has already indicated that they want to listen to the players’ wishes and implement them in the best possible way. An online function that allows you to play with friends could therefore come in the distant future.
