Play Hogwarts Legacy on Xbox One today: It’s possible with a simple trick
So you play Hogwarts Legacy 10 hours before the German release on Xbox One.
Actually, the last gen versions of Hogwarts Legacy will not appear until May 5th. Unlike the release for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, this time there is no early access for certain editions – however, there is a trick on Xbox One that you can still use to start playing today. However, you must not have bought the Digital Deluxe Edition for this.

How to start Hogwarts Legacy earlier on Xbox One
Normally, the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Hogwarts Legacy are available from us at midnight on May 5th at the earliest. However, since the game will be released worldwide at 00:00 local time, the Xbox can use a trick here: simply change the region of your console to New Zealand! It’s already ten hours later than here. This is how you do it:
- go to your Xbox settings
- select “system”
- select “Language and Location”
- change your location to New Zealand
- restarts the console
- now you can start the game
You only have to change the location of the console, not that of your account. While you can adjust the former as often as you like, you can only change the region of your account every three months. As soon as the game is released with us, you simply reset the time zone to local time. You won’t be able to start with the trick until May 5th, but Hogwarts Legacy already start on May 4th from 2:00 p.m.
Exception Digital Deluxe Edition: The only exception here is if you’ve grabbed the Digital Deluxe Edition for Xbox One or Series X/S. According to the Hogwarts Legacy Twitter account, the edition will not unlock at different global times, but will have a fixed release at 6 a.m. on May 5 (12:00 a.m. ET time). So the trick shouldn’t work here.

Unfortunately, this trick only works on Xbox One without any problems. Although you can theoretically change your location on the PlayStation, you have to create a completely new New Zealand account and then buy or pre-order the game on that account.
