PlayStation Productions, which adapts licenses to movies and series, also prepares animation
Sony has published a new episode of its official podcast, in which they usually have interviews with video game creators or company executives. This time the guest is Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions, the team that adapts video game licenses to film and television. One of the small new details that is mentioned is that between these productions we will also see animation.
Qizilbash recalls that Sony is currently preparing ten projects “in various stages of development”. after the movie Uncharted and the HBO series of The Last of Us come the turn of Grand Touring directed by Neil BlomKamp, a film by Ghost of Tsushima with the director of john wicka series of Horizon on Netflix, a series of god of war on Amazon, the series of Twisted Metal or a production of Gravity Rush.
Most have something in common: they are real images. The only one that is not clearly confirmed as a real image is Gravity Rush, which is inspired by the Japan Studio game of anime aesthetics. Qizilbash comments that there is “cinema, television, some animation…” although he does not specify if he means Gravity Rush or another unknown project. Fans speculate with licenses like jack, Ratchet & Clank -who already had his own film before the creation of PlayStation Productions- or sly raccoonor even an adaptation of destiny -it is known that Bungie has signed to adapt its licenses to other media-.
Grand Touring opens on August 11
In the absence of knowing the date of the series of Twisted Metal, Grand Touring is the next project from PlayStation Productions. It opens in theaters on August 11. and is inspired by the true story of a Polyphony Digital simulator player who made the leap to real competition. It is in the hands of Neill Blomkamp (district 9, Elysium) with a story by Jason Hall and Zach Baylin, and a cast that includes David Harbor (stranger things), Archie Madekwe, Orlando Bloom (The Lord of the Rings), Darren Barnett, Djimon Hounsou, Geri Halliwell-Horner, Daniel Puig, Josha Stradowski (The Wheel of Time) and Thomas Kretschman -who will appear in the next Indiana Jones-.
