PlayStation Tournaments is a reality on PS5.
Sony has introduced Playstation Tournaments, the first official tournaments for PS5 that will allow players to win cash prizes and accessories such as the improved DualSense Edge wireless controller or a wireless Pulse 3D headset. For the benefit of the players, these tournaments have been prepared with a reduced duration, easy registration from the console, real-time game updates and other improvements to increase participation.
The first official tournaments for PS5 will be held in games Guilty Gear -Strive-, NBA 2K23 and EA SPORTS FIFA 23. For two months, between December 1 and January 31, these tournaments will coincide with the PS5 and PS4 PlayStation Tournaments: Win-A-Thon campaign, which features a leaderboard where players rack up wins to improve their overall ranking while participating in tournaments.
Each victory in a tournament will serve to improve the position in the leaderboard of each region, which will end up adding points at the end of January to award prizes in various categories. With prizes that even include money, it is a whole campaEsports Extrasto promote player competitions.

Finding a PlayStation tournament will be easier than ever before. When moving to a game on the PS5 home screen, the bottom menu will display a list of upcoming tournaments. Tournaments will also appear from the control center by pressing the PS button while playing a supported title.
With the intention of attracting players of different abilities, it seems that Sony wants to promote competitions in PlayStation 5 games. It remains to be seen if the initiative extends to more titles and ends up being a mechanic that we find in more games with competitive sections.
