After knowing its date and later more content in the dedicated Nintendo Direct, now we…
If the Japanese company Hori is characterized by something, it is by apparently unlimited inventiveness when creating ergonomic peripherals for different consoles. Especially with the hybrid console, he has seen a good field to explore, specifically with his well-known detachable controls, of which he has released different cheaper versions, usually at the cost of doing without some of the features of the Joy-Con. A few months ago he announced the Split Pad Fita slightly smaller model of the previous Split Pad Pro, characterized by remaining very comfortable, but with a slightly smaller size.
After a while of announcing that in the West we will also have the opportunity to see them in two different colors, now it’s time to expand the collection with their thematic versions, specifically with the Pokemon Pikachu, Mimikyu and Gengar in two pairs of controllers. Like the models on which they are based, these controls include a Turbo function, ideal for shooters and fighting games, and two rear buttons that can be reprogrammed with any of the front and upper buttons of the Joy-Con, which in some cases it can be more comfortable, for example with racing games that require you to hold down the A or B button to accelerate.
And sharing those same characteristics, they also dispense with functions such as HD vibration, IR reader, being able to use them decoupled from the console or the NFC reader, hence they are somewhat cheaper. As Hori has communicated, over the next few months we will have the opportunity to see them in the West, but if you feel like having them sooner, there is also the option of buying them imported on well-known websites such as PlayAsia.
To remember a little how these Split Pad Fit, or Compact, as they are known in Japan, look like, we have the original ad:
