Resetera will ban any thread about Hogwarts Legacy
Resetera, one of the largest forums in the gaming community, has completely banned the discussion of Hogwarts Legacy.
This increases the reach of a previous ban, which prevented users from promoting the next game, but now any thread will be automatically banned.
The ban and the reasons for it have been made public in a forum post signed by the general director of the web. “After continuous internal discussions,” reads the post. “We started outlining the issues raised by Rowling and the game in question and each time, and as we discussed it all, we came back again and again to the simple fact that Rowling is not just a bigot, but is actively pushing, in her position as a figure of power, in favor of legislation that will harm trans people.”
“Therefore, the moderator team has decided to extend our previous ban on promoting the game of Hogwarts Legacy to include the game itself,” the post reads. Resetera also does not allow discussion of the ban itself, so anyone who wants to give their opinion will have to do so elsewhere.
The Hogwarts Legacy has sparked a lot of controversy, as although JK Rowling is not involved in the game, many argue that highlighting its wizarding world only gives it a platform from which to spread hateful opinions.
