Miraculous: Rise of the Sphinx It is the first game in the Ladybug series to come to consoles and it has done so to pamper fans of the saga a little. In this game we go through various locations in Paris to be able to protect it from the evil plans of the villain Lepidoptera. We will be able to clip its wings while in the suit of ladybug or of Cat Noir. Once again, they join forces to defeat any threat!

The gameplay and exploration, its strong point

Miraculous: Rise of the Sphinx is a game that is reminiscent of that golden age at the beginning of the century, in which many animated series platform games were created. It is far from a game with polished gameplay or great technical power. However, it fulfills the function of being a fun game and representing the saga. It reminds us to a certain extent of deliveries like Wallace & Gromit: in Project Zoo, Shrek Treasure Hunt, Madagascar 2, SpongeBob: In Atlantis and other games of a similar nature. All of them share a common element, they are games with a wide margin for improvement in many aspects, but they are capable of keeping us glued to the screen for hours thanks to their platform fun and gameplay.

Its main strong point is the platforms. Touring Paris and the different locations among a ton of jumps is something that offers a lot of fun. While the combat is fairly straightforward over the course of the story, the platforming can present a bit of a challenge at times. Moving around the maps collecting macarons for upgrades is something you can always feel like doing.

The combats aren’t too snappy, as you might expect from watching the series, but they’re decently responsive. A more positive point is the addition of different techniques, such as the Parry, which is much appreciated, and gadgets that we will unlock as we progress through the game. Thanks to this, we can enjoy fun and ingenious combats using different strategies. With a feeling similar to being the real protagonists and saving the world was in our hands. This is an important detail to achieve a greater immersion in the adventures of our beloved Marinette.

One of the most important elements when playing, has been the addition of the QTE system to carry out movements in the style of the series. You feel a real satisfaction when you complete each of them correctly and give the minion on duty what he deserves. They are not complicated at all, which could be better, and as a general rule they give you room to enjoy the kinematics of the movement itself.

The exploration of Paris is another of its strengths thanks to its gameplay. The locations are a bit repetitive in reference to having different scenarios. We must comment that it is not a detail that makes our experience worse thanks to the way in which it is explored and a platform system with an optimal desEsports Extrasfor it. Although a greater number of locations is missing. It is appreciated that we can walk around Paris in a normal way. Just walking, or in true Ladybug style with her double jump and hook.

The story, its duration and difficulty, on the contrary, its weak point

It is understood that a game like Miraculous: Rise of the Sphinx could not stand out for having a long duration, but several hours of gameplay are missing. It is quite short, having a duration of 3 to 4 hours. We also have to mention that the game ends up offering almost no difficulty and has a large number of tutorials at the beginning. By the time you’ve completed most of the tutorials, you realize you’ve missed half the story.

Speaking of the story, it’s not that it’s bad, but it doesn’t offer anything that hasn’t already been done in the world of Miraculous. It must be taken into account that I have judged her with the premise of being Ladybug. But I do have to emphasize that something a little closer to the series was expected and in this installment it has been left below. However, it must be said that it is not a great impediment when it comes to buying and enjoying the game. It all depends on the requirement that is attached to it.

The combat and its options could have been much more enjoyable with a higher difficulty. Precisely because of presenting this handicap, things like the store and other unlockables could make much more sense. In this way, you feel that the game can even become easier as you get hold of the controls and unlock the different gadgets.

Why you can enjoy Miraculous: Rise of the Sphinx

You have to understand that Miraculous: Rise of the Sphinx is a game that takes a step forward for the saga and being able to enjoy it on Nintendo Switch is very positive, but it falls short in several aspects. Certain details are missing for it to be objectively a recommendable game, but on the other hand, it meets its target audience by offering fun and representing the Ladybug saga well.

Miraculous is on the verge of being a game that really marks a before and after in the saga, having multiple sections to improve, but it’s still a decent game. You can also win thanks to its multiplayer mode. This mode, although it does not offer anything new beyond sharing battles, it is fun to play with friends.

Another reason, as I mentioned in previous paragraphs, is the representation of the Ladybug saga. If you are a fan of the saga, you will become familiar with certain details of the game. It is appreciated that there is a certain diversity of enemies and several known minions. Ladybug and Cat Noir are also well represented and consistent with their personalities in the series. Despite everything, the good and the bad, and above all, much to improve, Miraculous: Rise of the Sphinx has my approval.
