Rumor: Star Wars: The Old Republic Could Outsource Its Support

Star Wars: The Old Republic could no longer have support from the BioWare team and pass into the hands of Broadsword Online, the studio responsible for Dark Age of Camelot and Ultima Online.

As reported by IGN, BioWare prefers to focus all its efforts on the next installments of Mass Effect 4 and Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. While Star Wars: The Old Republic might not be the studio’s priority right now, it’s been around since 2011 and still has a decent player base to this day.

Star Wars: The Old Republic has received eight major expansions since its release, with the most recent DLC, Legacy of the Sith, releasing in February 2022. If Broadsword Online is to take over, this could mean the game may not receive much attention in the future, but perhaps the opposite, if BioWare wants to get rid of it, the MMO could receive a little more attention than it would have, considering the focus of this study is on its two main franchises.
