Little by little the appointed date of the November 8, 2022, in which Sonic Frontiers, probably the most ambitious title to date of the blue hedgehog, will see the light. Controversial like few others since its first images, the new Sega mascot game is going slowly detailing its benefits. And, if in previous trailers the thing revolved mainly around the breadth of his world or the characteristics of his exploration, it was already the turn of the combat. And the time has come to study it in detail thanks to the most recent trailer that the game has received.
Sonic Frontiers exhibits the characteristics of its combat
The basis of combat in Sonic Frontiers is a skill system managed in the form of a tree To get skills, we must first defeat enemies, which leave behind skill shards when they fall. We can also get them through breakables arranged throughout the length and breadth of the island. Sonic’s basic moves are complemented and improved through the skill tree. But the enemies also improve, so it is necessary to master the different combinations of abilities, with a special ability called Phantom Rush as the jewel in the crown, and others like Sonic Boom and Wild Rush. The result is a fight frenetic and fastas it should be when we talk about the blue hedgehog.
Like the rest of the aspects of the title, we will have to wait for the game’s launch to get an idea of whether this system, which on paper might not convince everyone, fits well and works at the gameplay level. Until then, we recommend you read our impressions of Sonic Frontiers. We tried it out at Gamescom, and it doesn’t look bad at all!
