Sons of the Forest has a big release on Steam

Survival horror sequel Sons of the Forest is currently blowing up on Steam after its early access release yesterday.

Set on an island full of cannibals and mutants where you must cut down trees and craft structures and weapons to survive, Sons of the Forest is the long-awaited sequel to the well-received The Forest.

Four years after The Forest’s debut (and eight since it was first released via its own early access program), this follow-up now sits comfortably at the top of Steam’s list of best-selling games by revenue, above Company of Heroes 3 and Destiny 2. , which is currently selling its new Lightfall expansion.

So popular was the game at launch that users reported experiencing issues with Steam and error messages when trying to load the Sons of the Forest product page.

With the server issues resolved, the user rating for Sons of the Forest is in the “Very Positive” category, with players praising the sequel’s progress from the first game, its dynamic seasons, building mechanics, and your logs look realistic.

It is currently the fifth most played game on Steam, behind the typical CS:GO, DOTA 2, Apex Legends, and PUBG crowd.

On Twitch, Sons of the Forest is currently the most watched game by some margin, ahead of regular stalwarts like League of Legends, Fortnite, and Valorant.
