Sons of the Forest: Kelvin is the star, but a lady with 3 arms and 3 legs is much more interesting
Sons of the Forest attracted hundreds of thousands of players with its release and everyone is talking about the nice companion Kelvin. Another exciting companion is almost ignored. Who is actually Virginia?
Kelvin stars in Sons of the Forest. The elite soldier falls with you and suffers a serious head injury, making it difficult for him to communicate. But you can give him tasks with slips of paper, which he loves to carry out.
The game’s community loves Kelvin. There are dozens of memes, praises, and calls for… questionable mods for the companion. Most players can even forgive him if he “accidentally” tears down hours of game time with his axe.
Still, Kelvin isn’t the only character in Sons of the Forest deserving of the spotlight. Alongside him there is a second companion that offers much more depth: Virginia, a friendly mutant who is a tremendous help.
In the video we show you everything you need to know about Sons of the Forest in 2 minutes:

Virginia – The Missing Daughter
Who is Virginia? In the story of Sons of the Forest you should find a missing billionaire. If you start a new game, you can view various dossiers with information about the missing persons in the heli on the way to the island.
One of those files features 20-year-old college student and billionaire daughter Virginia Puffton. Virginia, like her mother and father, is missing. And you meet her later on the island, albeit slightly different.
Virginia has three arms and three legs and is apparently on the way to mutating. However, she is not hostile towards you like other mutants on the island, you will often find her peacefully bathing or collecting herbs.
What makes Virginia so special? Like Kelvin, Virginia will help you survive in the forest. However, she doesn’t just follow you, you have to befriend her first and convince her that you don’t want her to harm you.
Unlike Kelvin, however, Virginia cannot give you orders. She has a rather feline temperament and will do as she pleases – but can get used to you and be protective on her own. She brings gifts with a quiet, “Here, please!” and will eventually even accept gifts from you.
Here’s how you can outfit Virginia in new clothes so she doesn’t get cold or hand her a pistol and shotgun. She won’t want to use it at first, but once she gets used to it, she’ll protect you and your camp.
Virginia doesn’t even use up ammo, although that may still be a bug due to Early Access. At the moment, however, this makes her the ideal companion who will defend the camp on her own if you treat her well.
By the way, Virginia loves ballet, which is why she wears an appropriate suit. You could already see her dancing in the first trailer:

Players adore the mutant
That Kelvin is the bigger issue is because Virginia can be missed. Some have even accidentally killed her because she looks like an opponent – such as MeinMMO video producer Anna Alberg with her troupe.
Like Kelvin, she’s permanently dead for the runthrough and won’t come back – which is why I refuse to kill Kelvin, even though my boss requests it. Ditto for Virginia.
Slowly, however, more and more posts about the mutant are appearing on social media, reddit and TikTok. Some call Virginia the best part of the entire game, others appreciate the special moments and details hidden in the game.
All NPCs’ behavior depends on how you interact with them. This also applies to Kelvin and Virginia, although the latter can even mourn the other companion. There are even some fan arts about Virginia:
The fascination with Virginia is also related to the desire to treat the woman as a true RPG companion. For example, some players wish to be able to enter into a romance with her. It actually works, at least in a hint in Sons of the Forest’s secret ending.
But the internet wouldn’t be the internet if it didn’t have dirty thoughts. Accordingly, the desire for sex with Virginia and the search term “Virginia rain” are widespread, which has to do with the fact that her top is quite transparent when it rains.
By the way, nobody has found out exactly how she got her mutations. She seems to have only gotten them on the island though, as outfits given to her that appear to be her own only have 2 shoes instead of 3.
Unlike Kelvin, Virginia has heaps of hints about her background and history on the island, which you can find by exploring the bunkers and caves. Virginia is therefore currently an incentive for many players to sink more hours into Sons of the Forest than they would actually need to play through.
