Sony is preparing a new PS5 model with the removable disc reader, according to Tom Henderson
The leaks in the industry do not stop. GTA VI has been the talk of the town for the last 24 hours with Rockstar verifying the authenticity of all stolen material. A title that will reach the new generation, which can already point to a review of consoles from Sony and Microsoft.
And that is what the Japanese company intends to do, as reported by Tom Henderson from Scoop Gaming. The sources consulted reveal that a new PS5 model is on the way to be launched on the market in September 2024. It would be the fourth version of the system, since so far we have had several revisions.
All of a minor depth and without apparent aesthetic changes, going from the original A chassis to the current D chassis. In this case, there will be a commitment to radically change this model and, according to Henderson, the decision will be made that the disk drive is removable.
Sony’s idea is that the reader can be connected to the PS5 through an additional USB-C port attached to the back. At the moment, Henderson points out that the reader will most likely even be sold separately. In this way, you would not have to buy a complete console in case it breaks.
The sources consulted by the journalist indicate that this model will not cause an enormous aesthetic change and that the connection will be made without seeing externally. Recall that Sony recently announced the increase in the price of both PS5 models, going on to cost 50 euros more each.
